On Tuesday, Edible Edinburgh hosted its first citywide public facing event to widen participation and engagement and encourage collaboration across the city. The event was opened by Edible Edinburgh chair, Councillor George Gordon, followed by inspiring and insightful presentations from Sustainable Food Places network members Bristol Food Network (Danni Rochman) and Brighton & Hove Food Partnership (Vic Borrill).
Danni spoke about the Bristol Going for Gold campaign that was adapted during the pandemic to become Bristol Bites Back Better, spreading messages of positivity and ensuring everyone feels included in their good food movement. Vic explained Brighton’s vision, to create a good food environment that is felt throughout every area, not just the tourist spots. Brighton & Hove Food Partnership are leading the way and became the first area to achieve the Sustainable Food Places Gold award in 2020.
There was also a chance for some Q&A and subsequent focused discussions in smaller groups about challenges and opportunities in Edinburgh. The event marks the start of a series of food networking events planned by Edible Edinburgh over the coming year. If you are interested in attending or speaking at a future event, please get in touch hello@edible-edinburgh.org. Thank you to everyone that attended – see you next time!
