While the Scottish seafood industry is facing one challenge after another, Edinburgh Fish City champions small sustainable producers, connecting them directly with local consumers. The project is based on the national Sustainable Fish Cities campaign from Sustain: The alliance for better food and farming and is a partnership project between Edible Edinburgh and the marine conservation charity, Open Seas. The project seeks to help consumers by promoting and prioritising seafood that is both local and sustainable and help create a platform for the fishermen selling directly into the city. The team at Edinburgh Fish City have written a blog, published recently by Nourish Scotland, that you can read here.
