Today marks the start of Scotland’s Climate Week 2019, which runs from 7-13 October. The City of Edinburgh Council has set an ambitious target to become carbon neutral by 2030. Food is an important part of this target as food waste is one of the leading contributors to climate change, and has more of an impact on the environment than plastic. According to Zero Waste Scotland,  Scottish households throw away over 630,000 tonnes of food waste every year, two thirds of this can be avoidable. Recycling food waste and eating local, in-season foods can all play a part in tackling climate change. Visit the Greener Scotland website for further details of how you can get involved in Scotland’s Climate Week.
